My husband and I just got back from vacation. We were on the Carnival Mardi Gras cruising to Puerto Rico, Amber Cove, and Grand Turk. We had a FUN-tastic time! The strangest thing happened… and I had never heard of this but apparently, it is a BIG thing right now…we found a duck hidden by the stairwell on the 9th floor of the ship. My husband picked it up and thought someone had lost it until he read the tag!
But the date on the tag is from last year! How odd!
What a cute little guy! Since it was the first one we had ever found, we decided to keep him and we took him into port with us and took photos!

While we were sitting at the table eating fries and having a drink, the people seated next to us say our duck and gave us one that they had been going to hide when they got back on the ship!
Sharing a drink with his new friend in Grand Turk!
So, today is May Day and my question would be: Does anyone still celebrate May Day anymore? I remember having brightly colored ribbons and dancing around a pole that was conveniently called a May Pole!
So I just have to vent here for a few minutes because sometimes ya just have to do that to keep your sanity. I have a beautiful group of friends that all derive from my husband having worked with their husbands in the shipbuilding industry. We all get together one weekend every month or two and have dinner either out to eat or at one of our houses. Keep in mind that there is always that one person in the group that tries to outdo and outshine everyone else.
In the middle of March, I tried a new recipe that I got online for “Pineapple Upside-down Cupcakes”. I intend to make these for our get-together and I wanted to test the recipe and make sure that I was doing it correctly, that it came out right, etc, etc….you ladies know what I mean. So I posted a photo of them in the chat stating that I would be making them for dessert for our next dinner. One of the ladies commented on how wonderful they looked and said she needed to make the cake version.
My husband and I are having everyone over in May and the theme is “Luau” so I just know that these cupcakes will be the perfect dessert. So I posted the menu in the chat today so that all of the ladies could be planning what dish they might want to bring that would complement what I am serving. The cupcakes are on that menu. So now the person that commented on them in March is telling me that I do not need to make the cupcakes because SHE is planning on making the cake version and bringing it for dessert.
Now, normally, I would say “hell yeah” because that would be one less thing for me to cook but this time I am like, “NO WAY, I have been planning on making these for over a month!” I hate it when people do me that way knowing damn good and well that I have been planning on making them all along.
I guess if I can make at least one post a month, I will be doing better than some blogs that I have seen. I promised more layouts for March and I am here to deliver!
Well, if the old saying stands true, the end of the month is going to be a doozy! The weather for the past two days has been absolutely beautiful, sunny, and warm and is supposed to be this way for the rest of the week. No rain until Sunday or Monday.
Just looking at what I have that needs to be done this month and for the first time in quite some time….there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Between all of the scrapbooking sites that I frequent and create layouts for, I have 75 layouts that I will need to complete by the end of the month. I don’t know that I have ever had to get that many done at one time!
So off to the races! These are for challenges at Gingerscraps.
These are a few that I have completed for The Lily-Pad.
I have been a busy little beaver this month with layouts, Crocheting, and just general life. I finally was able to finish 10 layouts for the challenges at Gingerscraps, and I am well on my way to having a few more challenges at other sites complete.
I love looking through the galleries at all of the sites that I am affiliated with and I do comment on quite a few of the layouts. What I truly get discouraged with are the forum threads and blogs that like to showcase or finger-point some of the gallery layouts. The reason that I get frustrated is that it is the same people that get showcased! Day after day you can go to any of the threads and see the same people’s names popping up with a layout that they have completed but it is also the same people that are posting them. It’s a click! If you are my friend or I like you, I will nominate your layout and then you can nominate one of mine. I don’t agree with that and I don’t like it. Ok…end of that rant.
Here are a few of the layouts that I have completed this month at Gingerscraps!
Well, I am late posting but I hope that everyone out there is having a fantastic start to their New Year. During the month of January, I was busy as a little bever over at The Lily-Pad creating pages for the Month of Challenges aka MOC event. I love this event but I must say that it is not easy. The challenges can be VERY challenging but more than that…being able to get 1 page a day created can be a bit tricky. I did finish all 31 pages and I did get them posted so I am very proud of that!
In all of the MOC chaos, I did manage to get a few layouts created for the challenges at Gingerscraps. I love their challenges. There are a lot of them so plenty to choose from!
I managed to find some great challenges over at the Sweet Shoppe too and I got a few of those done as well! There are some fantastic designers over there too. One of the Designers is one that I have known about for quite some time, The Nifty Pixel. I was introduced to her products by Jill Walls, another fantastic designer. She has since passed but I was on her CT for over a year. Here are some of the layouts that I created during January for the challenges at The Sweet Shoppe!
So what’s next? I am working on some fantastic layouts for the challenges at Gingerscraps, The Lily-Pad and The Sweet Shoppe. I can’t wait to share them with you! Until next time, God bless!
